The second collaboration between Right Proper Shaw Brewpub and Pulaski True

American is upon us just in time for Autumn. With the weather shifting to cooler

notes, brewers Bobby Bump and Josh Perry wanted to make a sessionable beer to

enjoy on the Right Proper front porch. This year, they chose to do a lagered English

Style Bitter (ESB) inspired by the classic yet often overlooked: Timothy Taylor

Landlord Pale Ale. A style not very common the DC market, the ESB was chosen for

its subtle flavors that are still approachable to all drinkers. After all: delicious

doesn’t have to be complicated.

Stay Gold is a 4.6% lagered ESB is made with Simpsons Golden Promise and

Heritage (Marris Otter) Crystal English malts, thoughtfully layered with Fuggles,

EKG, and Styrian Golding hops. Lagered with bready overtones, rich molasses

earthiness, hints of cereal grain, and supported by the noble hop character known

with this style.

For a release party and fall celebration, join us on Saturday, October 22nd, at the

Right Proper Shaw Brewpub, from 11:30am to 2pm. Sugar Shack Doughnuts, soon to

open in the Shaw neighborhood, will be on hand with free doughnuts dressed in fall

colors including one made with a Stay Gold ESB glaze. Brewers will be on site to chat

or answer any questions. Proceeds from the event will go to support a great cause in

DC: The Homeless Children's Playtime Project (HCPP).

More about The Homeless Children’s Playtime Project: “HCPP believes that play is a

human right that all children deserve, regardless of housing status. HCPP seeks to

help create a city that provides every opportunity for children to succeed by

advocating for affordable housing, safe shelters, and a strong safety net that helps

families bounce back from housing instability. Since 2003, our trained and screened

volunteers have provided weekly activities, healthy snacks, and opportunities to

play and learn for the children at emergency shelter and transitional housing sites in

the District of Columbia. In the past ten years, Playtime volunteers have served

thousands of children at 5 different sites throughout the city.”

Collaboration with The Brewer’s Art

This traditional Baltic Lager was done with our good friends at The Brewer’s Art in Baltimore, and happened to be the first lager in their history. Brewed during the snow storm on Presidents’ day, this rich dark lager incorporates a wonderfully malty base with a layer of chocolate of and roast, while a touch of oats gives it a hearty body.

Collaboration with Right Proper Brewing Company

This Tuesday, September 22, Right Proper Brewing Company in Shaw will be pouring Most Precious, a collaboration with soon-to-market Pulaski True American. Most Precious is a beer developed by Right Proper Head Brewer Nathan Zeender and Pulaski Brewer Josh Perry as a marriage between Zeender’s novel take on brewing and Perry’s “delicious doesn’t have to be complicated” mindset.
